Rahat Bakers and Sweets: Message in a Mithai Box

The Challenge
In Pakistan's traditional wedding culture, mithai, or sweets, hold deep cultural and symbolic significance. Yet 97% of Pakistani women lack agency over their Nikkahnama, the Islamic marriage contract that can determine their rights and freedoms within marriage. The campaign needed to reach women at a culturally significant moment and provide genuinely useful legal information, while navigating an extraordinarily sensitive cultural and political landscape.
The Strategy
Rather than a conventional awareness campaign, the team transformed an everyday cultural touchpoint into a vehicle for change. QR codes and legal information were embedded within Rahat's wedding sweet boxes, meeting women and their families at the moment of celebration rather than confrontation. The influencer strategy uniquely blended religious leaders, who provided Islamic legitimacy, with contemporary creators, artists, and style makers, ensuring the message was both credible and widely shared.
The Work
Influencers volunteered their platforms, creating a powerful narrative that respected cultural norms while advocating for change. Strategic partnerships with the Center for Human Rights and Dil Ka Rishta, Pakistan's leading matrimonial app, strengthened the campaign's legal and cultural foundations and extended its reach into exactly the communities that needed it most.
Results
The campaign generated 103 million impressions across Pakistan's diverse communities, provided legal support to over 50 women including a child bride, and contributed to a historic Supreme Court verdict on women's Nikkahnama rights.
The Judges' Verdict
“Judges described this as a masterclass in culturally sensitive, purpose-driven marketing that seamlessly blends tradition with transformative advocacy.”
