Best Use of AI in Influencer Marketing

Google Pixel – Pawtraits

Entrants: WPP
Partners: Google Pixel

The Challenge

UK rescue shelters were overwhelmed, with dog numbers in particular at crisis levels. Research showed that poor-quality photography was contributing to animals being overlooked by potential adopters. Google Pixel saw an opportunity to address a genuine social problem while bringing its camera technology to life in a meaningful way.

The Strategy

The campaign equipped rescue shelters with Pixel phones and training to help them capture compelling images that showcased each dog's unique personality. By improving the quality of shelter photography, the brand aimed to increase adoption rates while demonstrating the real-world impact of its camera technology. Strategic partnerships with dog-focused influencers amplified the content and drove engagement beyond the shelter community.

The Work

A full-day shoot at Many Tears Rescue in Wales produced a range of engaging content including a launch film, a dog POV video, and social media assets. Google Pixel's Re-Imagine AI feature allowed potential adopters to visualise dogs in everyday home settings, reducing the uncertainty that can prevent people from committing to adoption. The combination of creator content, AI technology, and a genuine social cause created a campaign with authentic emotional resonance.

Results

The campaign generated over 8 million views and 35,000 engagements. Most significantly, all dogs featured in the Google channel content were successfully adopted.

The Judges' Verdict

"100% of dogs adopted has to score top marks. The use of AI ties back directly to the product itself, and the creative idea was absolutely there."
