Monzo: Turning financial anxiety into an open conversation.

The Challenge
Personal finance remains one of the most emotionally loaded yet rarely discussed topics, creating a challenge for Monzo when launching *The Book of Money *— needing to reduce financial anxiety and engage audiences who typically avoid money-related content.
The Strategy
Recognising that financial anxiety is emotional rather than purely educational, the strategy prioritised trust and relatability over traditional financial authority. The campaign gave creators the freedom to share honest reflections on mindset shifts, behavioural changes, and practical tips in their own voice.
Execution and Innovation
Influencer partnered with 12 creators across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. The digital content was extended into the physical world via "The Book Nook," an immersive Soho pop-up designed as a social-first environment with built-in shareable photo opportunities.
Results
The campaign delivered 30 million views, 98.8 thousand engagements, and a content positivity rating exceeding 50 per cent, successfully normalising conversations about personal finance among non-traditional audiences.
Judges' Verdict
"The recognition that financial anxiety is often emotional rather than educational feels particularly relevant, and the decision to prioritise relatable creators over financial experts demonstrates a clear understanding of audience behaviour."
